The laboratory device of the Multi-Place Cold Finger CF6 analyses wax deposits and the effectiveness of wax and paraffin inhibitors. Six measuring stations in a conventional water bath are available for this purpose.
The Multi-Place Cold Finger CF6 complements the PSL Cold Finger product family with a proven measuring method using a water bath. The device is characterised by its new, space-saving design with sample lift. The CF6 is easy to operate and the sample lift positions the cold fingers centred in the sample bottles. For users, this means greater convenience and safety in handling and more accurate results.
The CF6 is suitable as an entry-level model for laboratories with low to medium sample volumes for cold finger measurements in crude oil and petroleum products.
Based on the proven PSL cold finger measuring technology and a new type of lift system, the 6 sample units are held separately from each other. This means that different chemicals or sample concentrations can be measured in parallel and the samples can also be individually pre-tempered. The cooling fingers can be positioned to match the size of the sample bottle in order to measure the temperature exactly where the wax deposits occur.
The removable sleeves allow the measurement of wax deposits over time as well as easy weighing and cleaning.
The almost closed water bath significantly minimizes the evaporation of the bath liquid, so that measurements up to 80 °C are easily possible and even temperatures up to 90 °C are realistic. For greater safety and to prevent condensation, the water bath and all hoses are insulated.
During the product demonstration, you will gain many insights into how it works. You can follow the measuring process live and then discuss your questions with our experts.
The petroleum samples with magnetic stirrer are screwed into the sample carrier, lowered into the water bath and pre-tempered there. The pre-cooled cooling finger unit is then lowered into the samples. Once the desired test duration has been reached, the cooled finger unit is pushed up the lift system. There it can drip off and cool down so that the wax deposits can solidify a little. The sleeves are removed and weighed. The sleeves can then be used again for the same sample for the next time interval. At the end of the test, the samples can be completely melted and are available for further tests.
The standard version of the CF6 is designed as a fully functional stand-alone device with heating bath, stirring plate and cooling thermostat. The automatic version offers software support for all users who want to record the test conditions digitally and control the cooling fingers individually.
User-friendly handling including easy cleaning.
Best alternative for low to medium sample throughput
With the CF6, the Cold Finger product family has been expanded to include an entry-level model for small budgets - in the usual PSL quality. The market-standard classic is now easier to use with greater safety and still at a low purchase price.
Highest accuracy through precise temperature measurement close to the sample
The wax deposit temperature on the cooling finger can be measured accurately and controlled precisely. This is because the temperature measurement takes place directly under the surface of the cold finger, i.e. exactly where the wax deposit takes place. As a result, the cold finger achieves a significantly higher measuring accuracy compared to other concepts in which the finger temperature is only measured in the return flow.
Safe operation leads to reproducible results and high comparability
The lift system provides precise finger and sample positioning. The cold finger achieves the same conditions for all measuring stations. This innovative design achieves reproducible results with high measuring accuracy thanks to its high operating safety.
Small and reusable sample volumes
The Cold Finger requires only 80 ml of sample. The wax deposits can be melted again after the test thanks to the removable measuring sleeve. Condensation and evaporation of the sample is prevented in the sealed measuring chamber. This means that the samples remain completely unchanged and can be reused.
Large and small sample bottles can be used
The Cold Finger can use sample bottles with a volume of 100 ml and 250 ml. For petroleum oils with a low wax content, a larger sample volume is necessary for reproducible results.
