With the Flocculation Tester FT 5 laboratory device, you can measure precipitation and crystallisation of asphaltenes in very dark, undiluted crude oils and oil products for pressures up to 700 bar (10,000 psi).
The automatic Flocculation Tester is available both as a stand-alone device and as an automated measuring station. The measuring station contains a thermostat and a pump as additional devices. The thermostat for temperature control up to 200 °C makes it possible to differentiate between paraffin and asphaltene precipitates.
The chemical is titrated automatically via the pump. Closed sample containers are available as an option to prevent solvent loss through evaporation.

To measure live oils under pressure, the measuring station system is available with the PSL pressure vessel (autoclave) and integrated stirrers up to 700 bar (10,000 psi). The pressure-resistant light probe is screwed directly into the autoclave. In addition, the pressure vessel can be equipped with a temperature or pressure sensor to monitor the test conditions. This allows extended flocculation tests and measurements under specified environmental and reservoir conditions, e.g. deep sea.
The automated Flocculation Tester FT5 is available in three versions: for pressures up to 10 bar, up to 200 bar and for pressures up to 700 bar as well as for temperatures from -25 °C to 200 °C.
In combination, pressures of up to 650 bar can be measured at temperatures of 150°C.

Software WinFT
The automatic flocculation tester and the other components of the FT system can be controlled using the WinFT software. The software enables easy programming and execution of test sequences. Temperature and pressure curves are displayed as real-time charts. The measurement results are displayed in a user-friendly way via the software and are available for further analyses, e.g. in Excel.
The stand-alone version of the flocculation tester is transportable thanks to its compact dimensions.
