The Gas Hydrate Autoclave is a pressurised container used to generate gas hydrates and test gas hydrate inhibitors in the laboratory. It realistically simulates pipeline conditions with pressures of up to 350 bar / 5,075 psi in the smallest of spaces.
The many functions of the Gas Hydrate Autoclave allow the effectiveness and mode of action of kinetic and thermodynamic gas hydrate inhibitors and anti-agglomerates to be conveniently and reliably investigated and optimised. Up to three cameras record photos and videos during hydrate formation.
The formation of the gas hydrates is automatically recorded via endoscope cameras during the experiment with photos or videos. Both Gashydrate Autoclave models monitor the sample surface from the autoclave head.
The GHA 350 is equipped with two additional side cameras. This allows the behaviour of the gas hydrates during and after formation to be observed both in the liquid phase (lower side camera) and directly at the phase boundary (upper side camera).

More InformationThe Gas Hydrate Autoclaves can easily be opened and closed by a specially designed mechanism. An integrated double jacket, temperature and pressure sensor, as well as the integrated stirrer enable a full control of experiments. Even small leakage losses are prevented by double seal sets. Thus, long-run experiments of 30 days or longerare possible. The insulation of the Gas Hydrate Autoclave supports a quick heating and cooling as well as good temperature stability at test conditions.
A practical display-box (D-Box) is available optionally. It provides the pressure values of up to six Gas Hydrate Autoclaves at a glance.
The Gas Hydrate Autoclave is equipped with a magnetic stirrer as standard to simulate pipeline conditions using stirring rods. Even stronger turbulence can be generated with an overhead stirrer that drives a rotor. Depending on the rotor shape used, significantly greater turbulence and shear forces are generated.
The overhead stirrer is coupled with a torque sensor. This allows you to draw conclusions about the viscosity based on the change in torque. With the GHA 200, either the overhead stirrer or the camera can be used; it is possible to switch between the camera and the overhead stirrer between experiments. With the GHA 350, both the overhead stirrer and all three cameras can be operated simultaneously.
During the product demonstration, you will gain many insights into how it works. You can follow the measuring process live and then discuss your questions with our experts.
Complex tests are carried out fully automatically using the comprehensive PSL Hydrate software. The software is easy to use and displays the measured values clearly. You can flexibly customise a test sequence using the integrated script editor. The optical monitoring of the tests and the measurement of temperature, pressure and torque offer a wide range of test sequences and options for analysing different requirements.
Photos and videos can be recorded both manually and automatically. The test results are even protected against power failures by an auto restart function.
